Zach Vruwink was elected in April 2012 as Wisconsin Rapids’ 22nd and youngest mayor.

Vruwink was born, attended school, started and grew a business in Wisconsin Rapids. He is a proud graduate of Lincoln High School and of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. He holds degrees in Political Science, Public Administration and Policy Analysis.

Vruwink is the owner and founder of ZAXX Technology Specialists. Founded by Vruwink at the age of 15, the business grew and expanded to multiple locations. Today, the company remains headquartered in Wisconsin Rapids with employees and locations throughout Central Wisconsin.

Mayor Vruwink has actively served his community on the board of the local Boys & Girls Club, Arts Council, as a founding member of the Governing Council at Mead Elementary Charter School and the South Wood County Teen Leadership program. Vruwink is passionate about recreation, technology, entrepreneurship, citizen engagement and public service.

Mayor Vruwink has been awarded the Ernst & Young/Junior Achievement Regional Youth Entrepreneur Award, a regional winner and finalist for the Global Student Entrepreneur Award and named to the Empact100 list of top young entrepreneurs in the country, honored at the White House.

Vruwink was also selected as a representative of the United States for the 2011 G20 Young Entrepreneur Summit in Nice, France. At the Summit, Vruwink worked alongside other representatives to propose measures encouraging entrepreneurship within and across G20 countries without distorting the marketplace or fostering unfair competition.
